CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS

When writing is alive,
it’s magical.

Good writers need certain tools – perhaps the most important of which is a supportive environment to experiment and learn. EssayHouse creative writing workshops offer young writers the opportunity to find their voices in a fun, informal setting.

Our Young Writers Workshops are designed for specific age groups, middle school through college. Workshop leaders are certified in the Amherst Writers & Artists method (AWA method) and we focus on the creative process (rather than spelling or grammar), appealing to kids who love to write as well as to those who have lost their writing mojo somewhere along the line.

Workshops typically consist of 4 weekly sessions of 90 minutes. Groups are kept small (5-8 writers) and our time together is salon style – writing to prompts, sharing if we feel comfortable, talking about the writing process, having some snacks, stretching our minds and sometimes our bodies. Mostly, we will build a community where the writers’ creativity can flourish.

The 4-week session is $185 per writer. Notebooks and snacks provided, when we are able to meet in person.

Contact us to hear about new workshops that are forming. We also offer a create-your-own-workshop option: Come to us with a group of 5-8 writing friends of any age, and we will custom-design a workshop for your group.
